Saturday's Excursion to the Lone Elk State Park

One of St. Louis's state parks is gated for wild animals to live in so you can drive thru and look for the animals. We saw . . .

Turkeys

Elk, lots of Elk

Deer

And a Bison that was too far to take a picture of.

The girls got to ride on our laps for a little while until we got pulled over by a State Police lady. We didn't know the same rules apply inside the park as they do outside the park for child safety! We did get a cute picture out of it . . . and no ticket! :)

Zuchinni

Forgot this picture. Mammie and Popo got a big zuchinni from their friends, the Kings. I had to take a picture of how big it is . . . or was!

A Package

Friday night when we got home from dinner we had a package from Grammy's Aunt Carolyn and Uncle Buzzy in Knoxville. The girls love getting packages in the mail . . . this one was especially fun because it had dressup shoes, bracelets and rings. Can't see them very well in the picture but the girls are "striking a pose!"

The Hill - Friday Night

Friday Night we went to St. Louis's little Italy . . . The Hill. We ate pizza at a restaurant called Guido's. We were greeted and sat by the owners of the restaurant. They spoke some think Italian. The wife had a hard time understanding that I needed booster seats. They loved the girls and were very accomidating. The pizza we ordered was the Guido pizza with pepperoni, Italian sausage, mushrooms . . . sooooo good!

Then we had dessert at the famous Ted Drewes. We all had concretes and were all completely stuffed from our evening of feasting. The girls had a blast!

Off to Popo and Mammie's

I didn't do a great job taking pictures over the weekend. But that doesn't mean we didn't have fun! Sunday night Popo built a fire in the backyard to cook hotdogs and camper pies.

Visiting the Garrets . . . July 16-17

Finally pictures of our trip to Ohio . . .
Our first stop was visiting Kevin, Emilee, Caroline and Baby Helen in Cincinnati. Caroline is one of Maddie and Katie's bestest friends. They were all excited to see each other.

Bed time with a story by Miss Emilee . . .

And something about pickles . . .
Katie did her little hand like that the other day and reminded me that the girls were doing their hand like that say pickle in a funny little voice.

Potty break before we get tucked into bed.

The best part of our visit was the next day when Emilee and I took the girls to McDonald's and then to the park to play on the playground. We were there 5 minutes and it began to sprinkle on us, then rain, then pour. We thought it would blow over so we sat under the playgym, when it wasn't blowing over we thought it would be a good time to run to the car. As soon as we got out from under the gym it began to hail. The 6 of us ran to the car . . . Emilee and I busting laughing and the girls crying. It was great fun - definitely a memory. Maddie isn't too fond of thunder now she's not so fond of rain! :) We'd do it again just to hang out with our friends!

Sooo anti-thunder!

Maddie does not like thunder. The Sunday (the 5th) of the Halford weekend, after they left it poured, the rain just fell from the sky out in Millington . . . and thundered. During Maddie's snack, I looked over and saw her attempting to cover up her ears with her blankie. When I saw this, I wrapped it around her head and tied it - she finished the rest of her icecream like this!

Off to Memphis . . .

July 2 we went back to Memphis for a week for our Halford family weekend and while Spence went into work for a couple of days.

The girls loved the pool. Maddie is tall enough to stand up in the shallow end and figured out she could jump in the water by herself. Maddie and Spence did lots of jumping together. I'm sorry I don't have a picture of them together - remembering to take pictures for the blog is hard!

It took Katie a day to figure out if she doggy-paddled she could stay floating in her floaty-swimsuit by herself! She reminded me of a turtle and I don't think I'll ever forget how cute she was swimming across the pool!

Our Cousin Clara was a huge help. She did a great job playing with one of the girls while I played with the other one. They all had a blast together!

Haircuts at Clipits

Well, I'm a little behind.

On July 1 I took the girls to a kid's hair salon called Clipits hoping to get a good, even cut. Well, the salon was fun but there was nothing special about the haircutter!

This was Katie's first time ever to sit in the big chair! Maddie's below - I forgot to take her picture while her hair was getting cut. :)
